Explore 29 New Cards from Magic's TMNT Expansion (Featuring a Commander-Style Deck!)

The world's beloved pizza-eating superheroes are arriving to the popular trading card game. The popular trading card game's publisher, Wizards of the Coast, unveiled a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a special panel hosted at NYCC. Could this be a exciting new set or yet another crossover cash grab? Let you decide.

Take a look here at all the details announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including some useful background. All items mentioned here releases on March 6th, 2026, with one exception — the Pizza Bundle drops a couple of weeks after on March 27.

MTG x TMNT: Main Set Cards

Before diving into all the various unique products and collections on offer, let’s take a look at all the cards from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set unveiled by Wizards. Standard booster packs for the expansion are set at $6.99 per pack, while premium boosters are priced at $37.99 per pack.

Let's unpack a few surprising details. To begin, there's a new mechanic called Sneak, inspired by the already established Ninjutsu ability, in which players can play big creatures onto the battlefield whenever an attacker isn’t blocked. The key change here is that Sneak can affect spells that aren’t creatures as well. Wizards also used this chance to clean up the mechanic a bit (Sneak is treated as casting, unlike Ninjutsu). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but chances are players will encounter Sneak in future sets moving forward.

“If we ever were to return to the Kamigawa plane, we might use the original ability since that's where it was developed and it’s a hallmark to that,” an experienced game designer explained. “But on other planes, because the rules are cleaner and Sneak will be in standard, it’s probable we’ll use the updated version.”

That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai card, is one of four cards with special art created specifically for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman.

Additionally, should you be surprised by the rules text on Turtles Forever, which allows playing game cards outside of your deck, many players were. Yet as per Wizards, that's now a legal card in all formats of Magic.

In any case, below are the highly unusual full-art lands from this set:

Following Wizards of the Coast's existing guidelines, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. The designers state they were careful to make sure the new cards and mechanics meshed well with other Standard sets such as Edge of Eternities.

“I headed the development for over a year and we knew it would be Standard-legal and what other sets were going to be near it in standard,” the designer commented. “We designed to make sure that there's synergy with some of those sets including Edge of Eternities.”

For example, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a Izzet archetype built around artifacts.

“They mesh together to offer the pieces for a fun Standard deck,” he added.

Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power!

After declining to design any pre-constructed Commander decks for the Spider-Man set and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only one precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary cards who could work as your commander based on how you combine them (five cards have a special partner ability named “Character Select” that allows starting with two commanders in the command zone instead of only one). Take a look for yourself:

The Turtle Power precon is set at $69.99, though that could easily go up based on demand. Wizards told that it contains 43 new cards in total, which translates to an extra thirty-seven TMNT-themed cards besides the six legendary commanders shown above. (Doing some rough math, that also means approximately 20 reprinted cards if we assume the deck includes 37 land cards.)

How will the Turtles version of the iconic Sol Ring appear? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Standard Bundle (Regular)

Typically, the company is offering a bundle. It costs $69.99 and includes the listed items:

  • Nine Play Boosters
  • 15 Traditional foil basic lands
  • Fifteen Regular land cards
  • Two Reference cards
  • One Traditional foil promo card
  • 1 Large life tracker
  • One Card-storage box

Pizza Bundle

This is a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, mostly in that it comes in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Each pizza-themed bundle costs $99.99 and comes with the following:

  • 9 Play Boosters
  • 1 Premium Booster
  • Twenty-five Regular pizza-themed lands
  • Five Foil pizza basic lands
  • 2 Foil pizza bundle promo cards
  • 2 helper cards
  • 1 Oversized spindown life counter
  • 1 storage box

If you’re wondering what a “Pizza Bundle promo card” is, it’s basically a reprinted older card featuring all-new Turtle-themed artwork. The team revealed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of master Splinter sprinkling black licorice pieces on a pizza. There are six different pizza promos available.

This special bundle launches a few weeks after the main set on March 27, 2026.

Draft Bundle

This special bundle is designed for a four-player draft and is priced at $119.99. It includes:

  • 12 Standard Boosters (ideal for a group of four to play draft)
  • One Collector Booster (aka, the reward for coming in first)
  • Ninety Non-foil basic lands (to build your deck)
  • 10 Non-foil token cards
  • 1 Draft insert (a one-sheet guide to drafting the set)

Turtle Team-Up

Lastly, the developers are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its ongoing effort to create Magic game products aimed at new players. In this case, Turtle Team-Up is a unique product of decks that allow two players team up against a “Boss” enemy deck that plays automatically.

The concept is that every Boss card gives unique powers to the creatures included in the Boss deck. Each Boss automatically plays an additional card each turn, and players begin fighting {one Boss|
